My Technology Philosophy
Technology should be integrated into all classrooms. In order for this to happen, administrators need to find the time and money to properly train educators to effectively use technology in their classrooms. Technology can be used to differentiate instruction for students with disabilites, gifted students, and low and high achieving students. Assistive technology is another way for technology to be integrated into classrooms. Assistive technology will allow individual students to access the curriculum. The technology that can be used ranges from low tech to high tech and differs in price and availablity. Educators should chose the appropriate technology based on student needs, not price.

Also, it includes assessments, sucess stories, and tutorials. I think this would be most beneficial to a teacher who is just beginning to integrate technology into her classroom and needs help getting started.

This website would be great for teachers looking for programs to use with their students. The teacher can actually go through the tutorial and decide whether or not a specific program would work effectively in her classroom.

It offers teachers both educational tools and information that is user freindly. He links his site to many other websites which is very helpful. It explains what a WIRED classroom is and what a technology centered classroom looks like. This would be a great website for a teacher who is already comfortable with technology and who uses it regularly in the classroom and is interested in creating a technology centered classroom.

The games offer support in number recognition, shapes, colors, numeral counting, number oder, and more. This is a great website for students to use because it is user friendly and fun.

This is a good website because it gives links to many other websites that have games children can play in various content areas. There are literacy and math games, and other search engines for students and teachers to use.

There are also online flashcards, a wordsearch, and a section of links for low beginning students. This would be a great resource for ESL teachers and also for general education teachers. Examples of student work have been included to explicitly show what the student's work looked like and also the progress that he made. This webiste talks about UDL. It gives a definition and gives examples of how things can be created considering UDL. It examines the issues of UDL and offers a history. Although we have learned about UDL in class, this article is a great resource for other educators that aren't familiar with UDL and also provide information that can be used in the future.
My Plan to Improve My Knowledge of Assistive Technology
In the future, I hope to get a lot more training in assistive technology. I would love to be able to go to conferences or technology classes as my professional development. I don't feel that I have a lot of knowledge about specific technology devices and I will need to learn about them in order to be able to help my students use them. I want to have a proficient understanding of assistive technology so I can put it to daily use with students.
How K-12 Teachers Can Use WIkispaces
Wikispaces can be an important communication tool in K-12 classrooms. Teachers can post resources, homework assignments, articles, and have message boards to communicate with students. It can be used both in class and outside of class as an organizational tool. Students can post homework assignments and share them with their peers. This facilitates conversations between students and also between students and teachers. Teachers can have class assignments posted throughout so students can be looking ahead and planning thier time effectively.
